The Amal program coordination denounced what it described as the illegal practices of the program coordinator at the Nouakchott level and accused him of attacking the workers during a proper protest in front of the headquarters of the Food Security Commission.
The coordination confirmed in a statement that the regional coordinator of the Amal program of the Food Security Commission at the level of Nouakchott attacked the workers during their peaceful protest outside the official time of work, in front of the Commission. He was accompanied by a group "where they asked each worker about his name, address, telephone number and question about his tribe to register them. Then, they issued a fake record against the workers, which stated that the works protest and obstruct the functioning of the work, and they admit that and recognize the penalty of their dismissal from work, "according to the text of the statement.
The Coordinator called on the concerned parties to intervene to put an end to what they described as arrogance of the coordinator and blackmailing the workers and contacting them and threatening them with their source of livelihood without committing a violation or a misdemeanour, describing the coordinator's work in Nouakchott as "a political action, recalling the obscurantist era in which all were under the control of informants", arguing that this "contradicts with the rights of workers to protest peacefully as stipulated in the Mauritanian Labour Code and international laws.
