The UNRWA-contracted teachers at UNRWA schools asked for the settling of their professional positions.
Dozens of teachers participated in a strike, organized by UNRWA's employees’ union, yesterday morning, carrying banners calling for an end to their suffering and to ensure them to have a decent life for them and their families under the suffocating siege on the Gaza Strip.
The protesters accuse the administration of "UNRWA" of dodging and of its lack of clarity and transparency in showing the real number of payments by the donor countries, putting them under suspicion.
The teachers' representatives confirmed to local media that the UNRWA administration is citing its financial deficit, pointing out that donors’ support has covered most of the deficit. Moreover, they expressed their fears that the UNRWA administration will lay off more teachers, up to 169 jobs.
It is noteworthy that US President "Donald Trump" has announced the cutting of the US aid to the Palestinians, in case if they do not return to negotiating with the Zionists.
