Lebanon: Federation of Trade Unions protest to bind the two cellular companies to set the price in lira

Lebanon – The Lebanese General Federation of Trade Unions carried out a symbolic sit-in in front of the Ministries of Economy and Communications, calling the communication companies to charge in Lebanese pounds.

They issued a statement stating that the problem of increasing prices of cell phone prepaid is derived from the differential price of the US dollar, which is set at $ 25, this is a violation of the Consumer Protection Law which imposes the sale of products, especially Lebanese, in Lebanese pounds. This is what the Ministry of Economy must deal with immediately by obligating the two operators of the cellular sector to sell in Lebanese pounds. A meeting with the Minister was set for April 7.

The statement pointed out that a delegation from the Federation also held a meeting with the Ministry of Communications Gamal Al-Jarrah and his assistants. The Minister said that he understood their demands and recognized their right and injustice and promised to regulate the relationship between agents distributing cards and mobile workers, While preserving their right to a certain percentage of the commission on the sale of cards, the minister added that he was following up this subject with the stakeholders.
