Saudi Arabia: A worker cut her hand in a factory demanding treatment

Saudi Arabia – A worker, who lost her hand in a work accident, demanded her physical rights and treatment after her work injury and loss of her right hand, causing a media hype on the social networking sites in Saudi Arabia.

This hype forced the Ministry of Labor to intervene in the case officially through the account of its official spokesman on Twitter, which was the main arena for the largest wave of sympathy for the story of humanity and human rights, many Saudis say that this worker was subjected to severe injustice and must be compensated now.

Khaled Aba al-Khail said in a tweet about Zahras case that the Ministry of Labor would take the necessary measures to guarantee citizenship rights, the first formal intervention by a government agency in the case involving Saudis demanding the intervention of the Ministry of Health to treat the girl.

The Labor Court is due to decide next Sunday on Zahra’s case, which says that it is not yet possible to re-implant a new arm, which is often a complex operation that is not performed in Saudi Arabia.

Zahra says that she was forced to work in a factory specialized in medical solutions in the industrial city of Jeddah, to help her family, despite being a university student, but she got her right hand cut from the shoulder while being forced by one of the supervisors of the factory to accomplish a task she does not master and normally is a specialty of men.

She added that the negligence and pollution that accompanied her ambulance, and the refusal of a hospital to receive it at first was a reason for doctors in another hospital to re-reach her hand, which required the needs of special ambulance conditions not provided by the laboratory, such as cleanliness and speed.

She explained that the factory management still paid her monthly salary, but she did not receive any material compensation and follow-up treatment from the plant management as promised by the management of the factory, or the institution of social insurance, and all that has been obtained so far only hand adornment shown by the full members when wearing her cloak.
