Palestine – The General Secretariat of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions(PCFTU) launched the first activity of “May 1 World Labour Day” activities in solidarity with the prisoners of liberty in the Israeli occupation prisons, with the wide participation of the members of the General Secretariat of the Federation. The General Federation launched the activity in solidarity with the prisoners in the Israeli jails, calling for more supportive measures for prisoners of liberty and independence, prisoners of the Palestinian working class, demanding pressure on the Israeli government to stop its violations and aggressive practices towards them.
The Federation has sent numerous letters and memos to many Arab and international unions and trade union organizations to demand wide international moves to expose and condemn Israeli policies.
The Federation will hold a series of events on the occasion of the first of May, where they launched their first activity yesterday in solidarity with the prisoners, generals of patience. Today, the city of Ramallah will witness a massive march to the martyr Yasser Arafat Square where a speech festival will be held. Various meetings, seminars and workshops will include the various governorates of the homeland in the Palestinian West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The Federation issued a statement circulated to the various media and trade unions around the world, to pay tribute to Palestinian workers and to all workers of the world on this glorious international occasion, calling for the continuation of the struggle to achieve labour rights.
