Morocco: Worker Attempt to suicide in a protest

Morocco- In the midst of a protest organized by workers of “Amanor company one worker surprised his fellow protestors as he  attempted  to suicide, in an effort to put pressure on the company and responsible authorities, and push them to intervene to resolve their file. The worker climbed up the company’s headquarters in the new industrial neighborhood of Tetouan and started to threaten to end his life by throwing his body from the roof of the building, amid attempts by the rest of the protesters to stop him from this attempt. The worker said he will suicide unless officials intervene to settle his situation, he started to shout in a hysteric way and said no one can stop him. The civil protection rushed to the scene, to try to stop him but the threats of the worker to carry out his suicide attempt in the event of any intervention made rescuers unable to take any step to discourage him. Dozens of Amanor workers have been in an open sit-in for eight months, protesting new decisions by the company to dismiss them, despite being asked to integrate them into pre-announced positions within the French company, union officials said.
