Mauritania – In the center of the capital Nouakchott, strong confrontations between the Mauritanian police and a number of activists of the movement Ira rights to defend the rights of slaves, after a protest to commemorate what the movement calls the Holocaust.
The police dispersed the protesters using tear gas, before entering into confrontations with some of the demonstrators. The leader of the IRA movement, Ayram Bayram son of Aldah son of Aabid, burned a number of jurisprudential books six years ago on the pretext of promoting slavery.
Every year, the Ira movement commemorates the burning of its claims to some of the mothers of Malikis jurisprudence, a guideline that most Mauritanians follow. The so-called unauthorized movement in its statements called the Holocaust a scourge of widespread discontent, translated into protests demanding the punishment of the movements leaders.
The Emergence of Emancipation Initiative, known as the Ira movement, was founded on November 5, 2008, by a group of former defenders of the slave labor, most notably the head of the movement, Yad Biram son of Aldah Abeed and his deputy, Ibrahim son of Bilal.
