Bahrain: bans the 1st of May March

Bahrain – Secretary-General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions Hassan Al-Hilwaji confirmed that the workers march would continue this year (2017), which will mark their anniversary on May 1 of each year.

Al-Hilwaji said in a press statement that the General Union, while expressing its respect for the decision of the Ministry of the Interior, as the body to maintain the security of the country, but at the same time, this is reflected in his own opinion and his view on the march in the province of the capital.

Certainly, if there are circumstances that affect the security of the country, we understand the decision, and when the response came to us, he said. It is important to say that depriving workers of organizing the march has a negative impact not only on the trade union and labor movement but also on the economy of the country.
