Egypt: Arbitration workers on strike because of salaries

Egypt – More than 1800 workers of the Alexandria Cotton Arbitration and Testing Commission, affiliated to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, stopped working to protest against the delay in salaries.

The headquarters of the Commission in Smouha, east of Alexandria, witnessed a state of anger among the workers, who went to the administration office, informing them that they were not responsible for delaying salaries.

Hundreds of workers stopped in front of the companys headquarters, refusing to continue to work and held slogans that demand their salaries.

Tariq Abdul Rahman, a member of the Arbitration and Cotton Testing C0mmission, said that the salary was supposed to be paid to the workers two days ago, like other bodies and sectors of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, but has not been disbursed so far.
