Jordan – Workers of the Jordanian Lafarge Cement Company held a sit-in in front of the companys gate in the Rashadiyah area south of Tafila province, demanding to improve their living conditions and to achieve the agreed upon demands with the management of the company a year and a half ago.
A member of the union of construction workers Ahmed al-Masaidin said that about 560 employees at the Jordanian Lafarge Cement Company in Al-Rashadiyah, Al-Fheis and the administration in Amman held today in all the workplaces in the company to protest the management of the company which marginalized and ignored the workers demands.
He added that the escalation comes in protest against the actions of the companys management and procrastination in the implementation of labor demands that have been submitted to them for more than a year and a half and the avoidance of the rights acquired by employees and not granting workers their annual incentives, demanding officials and concerned authorities to intervene to prevent the aggravation of things.
He pointed out that the employees received many promises from the management of the factory a year and a half ago without fulfilling any demands of the workers.
The Maysahedeen also stressed the adoption of the staff and the General Union of workers in construction escalating measures of the strike in the coming days in the event of the Administrations inflexibility to meet the demands of staff.
Madar Al-Sahma held several contacts with the manager of Jordans Lafarge Cement Factory in Al-Rashadia, Eng. Abdul Fattah Al-Muhtasib, to find out the companys procedures in achieving the demands of the protestors a year and a half ago, without answering the phone.
