Egypt: Coptic Christians killed in bus attack

Egypt- dozens of Coptic Christians have been killed and dozens more wounded by armed men who attacked them while they were travelling to a monastery in Egypts Minya province. Amid conflicting numbers between 24 and 35 dead. The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced that the attack killed 26 people, while the Ministry of Health reported that the death toll reached 24 people, and more than 25 wounded.

The head of the Coptic Cultural Center confirmed that 35 people were killed in the attack, in which masked men opened fire on the buses, one carrying children.

The Christians were headed on Friday to the Saint Samuel Monastery, located outside Minya city, about 220km south of the capital Cairo, when the masked attackers, who came in three pickup trucks, opened fire of them before fleeing the scene. Egyptian security and medical officials told the Associated Press news agency that of the 28 dead, many were children. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
