Egypt: Security forces arrest protesting workers

Egypt – Security forces stormed the sit-in of security workers at Tura Cement Company and arrested 22 workers and were taken to the police station. More than 70 of the companys security workers entered an open sit-in nearly two months ago to demand their permanent employment after receiving a court ruling on their right to do so, however, the management of the company refused to implement the judgment on the grounds that they work for another company. The average working years for these workers is around 10 years yet they have no insurance or health rights. The company has informed workers that they will contract with another security company in the coming months and workers should continue with the new company without counting past years of service.
