Egypt: workers at the Natural Gas Company threaten to strike

Egypt – Natural Gas Companys shareholders announced that they will continue to strike for the eighth day in a row and that the four branches of the company will be joined in Cairo from all of the 19 branches from Alexandria, Damietta, Beheira, Rashid and others.

 

One of the workers said: They went to the headquarters of the Ministry of Manpower and met one of the officials in the ministry, where they made contact with the company by the labor force, and it was agreed to stop the separation and investigation with natural gas collectors until a negotiating session to discuss the crisis and reach For the satisfactory solutions to all parties, but the workers immediately after heading to the companys headquarters discovered that the Department has dismissed 4 workers from each branch, on the pretext that their contracts have expired.

 

The workers pointed out that they would start from tomorrow their strike and presence at the companys headquarters and will stand not leaving at night or day until they fulfil their demands.

 

The natural gas company received a memo to the Ministry of Manpower, carried by a delegation of 40 representatives of the branches involved in the strike in the areas of peace, mottam, artisans and October.  With a complaint included with the same demands, including the abolition of all arbitrary decisions against workers and the payment of 10% annual profits.
