Algeria – workers of the independent electricity and gas union Sonelgaz decided to enter a five-day national strike from the 21st of this month to the 25th. This escalation comes after the recent events and the violence inflicted on the workers during their strike, around 67 leaders from the union have been detained and police have called more than 340 workers for investigations. According to the union statement, six workers were arrested in the state of Bordj Bou Arreridj by the security forces after a complaint was filed against them by their directors, police ordered to open an investigation and call the workers to be heard, which the union refused and called on all workers to escalate and go on to the street.
