Bahrain – The number of violations of summer work ban rose within three weeks to 48 violations, according to Engineer Mustafa Sheikh, head of Occupational Safety Department in the Ministry of Labour and Social Development. Sheikh said that the number of violations has increased from 15 violations in the end of the first week to 26 violations in the end of the second week and it is up to 48 violations by the end of the third week. He revealed that the number of workers in each case exceeded from 33 workers at the end of the first week and rose to 47 workers at the end of the second week and then rose to 97 workers the end of the third week, noting the ban is in their favor in the first place. He called on institutions to work on scheduling their work in accordance with the working conditions and environment in this high temperature environment. He pointed Bahrain bans all outdoor work between midday and 4pm during to protect workers from potentially fatal heat-related medical conditions and companies that ignore the rule are referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
