The Human Rights Committee of the Kuwaiti Parliament called on the government not to pay the contracting companies parts of their dues, only after confirming the receipt of workers of these companies of their salaries and provide proof that there is no manipulation in the payment of wages.
This recommendation comes after it was found that there are companies which did not pay workers’ salaries for one month, two months and three months. This was considered by the Human Rights Committee of the parliament as unjust and infringement of workers, and there were companies referred to the courts for not paying workers’ salaries.
The Committee stressed the need for the government to abide by the recommendations addressed to it, otherwise it will have to report to the House of Representatives if the government failed to implement any of these recommendations.
