Education workers carried out a 24-hour general strike on Wednesday, accompanied by protest vigils in front of the regional directorates at the invitation of the National Union of Education affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour(CDT).
The strikers expressed their protest against the worsening structural crisis of the educational system. The states insistence on dismantling the public school, striking out free education, absenting social dialogue centrally and sectorally, and not responding to their legitimate financial and social demands.
On the other hand, the workers of the territorial groups and the authorized measure conducted a national general strike on the same day, accompanied by a protest vigil for members of the administrative committee, in front of the Directorate General of the terrestrial communities in protest against the failure to respond to their chronic demands.
