The National Coordinating Committee for Electricity and Gas Distribution Workers, affiliated with the Independent Trade Union of Electric and Gas Workers (SNATEG), called for a comprehensive strike in all distribution units to protest the dire situation suffered by workers in the distribution companies of the “Sonelgaz” complex.
The Coordination Committee condemned the refusal of the Ministry of Labour to activate the legal provisions that protect trade unionists and reached to the extent of announcing the voluntary solution of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, as a flagrant violation of trade union rights. It asked for the opening of negotiations to amend the collective agreement on the distribution workers and the return of all trade unionists expelled arbitrarily from distribution companies with theabolition of all penalties for those who have been integrated and compensated for weeks of arbitrary dismissal.
