The Labour Court of First Instance of “Zouérat” ruled the annulment of firing nine workers from the SPHERE-MAURITANIE SA company.
The court ordered the company to compensate workers by 70 million ounces of the old currency. The compensation for dismissed workers ranged from 19 million ounces to 4 million ounces.
More than a year ago, SPHERE reached an agreement with workers representatives to open the door for voluntary departure. According to the agreement, the company is committed to voluntary departures, as well as the rights of departure, paying 10 months salaries without taxes.
It is noteworthy that the company SPHERE-MAURITANIE SA is exploiting the mine of Askaf between Afdir “and “Otwajil in addition to the Ouj mine adjacent to Afdirk in partnership with the National Company for Industry and Mines and Asnim mines. The number of workers of the company is about 245 workerswith 224 workers in only the city of “Zouérat”.
