“Qatar Leaks” page posted a video on its Twitter account showing that Qatari authoritiesforced650 Filipino workers to quitt their jobs, leave, end the large contracts with Filipinocompanies and leave workers without food or housing because of food price inflation coming from Iran and Turkey.
The video also revealed the long unpaid leave extended by major hotels to workers due to the economic crisis in Qatar, forcing hundreds of workers to protest.
The video also cemented the Philippine governments protest against those arbitrary decisions and the ban on salaries for hundreds of workers. The Trade Union warned against sending more Filipinos to Qatar. It has promised to send an official investigation team on the situation of Filipino workers in Doha.
The crisis prompted the pioneers of various social networking sites to launch a Hashtag Qatar Slavery to cement the sufferings of Filipino workers in Qatar and to ask the international community to intervene to end their crisis
