Lebanon lacks skilled technicians

Lebanon – A study found that Lebanon lack skilled technicians, engineers and administrators. .The proportion of workers who did not exceed primary education is about 30%, while the proportion of workers with secondary or university reached to 43%. Among skilled workers, 43% of women hold university degrees, compared to 20% of men. In addition, 41% of the workforce works in jobs that do not match to their fields of study. They find that education in its current structure may be an obstacle in finding a job. The study highlighted the importance of small businesses, accounting for 90% of registered companies, and affecting the lives of half of the authorized employees. The study pointed out that, in the absence of incentives for small and medium-sized enterprises, an irregular labour market had emerged. The sectors that the study considers to be capable of developing in order to absorb a larger proportion of the labour force are: Agriculture, Construction & Real Estate, Transportation & Logistics, Banking & Financial Services, Tourism & Hospitality, Health, ICT & Media, Fashion & Jewelery, Green Industry & Renewable Energy & Waste Recycling.
