Egypt: Workers go on strike inside Sumsta Hospital

Egypt- Four workers and drivers of the waste recycling factory of the local unit in the city center of Sumsta, southwest of Beni Suef province, went on hunger at the central hospital in Sumsta, to demand that they be transferred to the local unit of the city center. Sumsta Hospital received:   Ahmed Hassan Abdel Hamid, 38, resident of Sumsta, driver, Jamal Abdul Rahman Mohammed, 42, resident of Nazlet al-Deeb village, Hassan Khalifa Hassan, 47, resident of Sumsta, Ramadan Madi Ahmad, 57, Workers in the waste recycling factory, and were detained inside the hospitals internal medicine department. We have been working in the local unit for seven years but when the factory was rented to a private company, the working hours have changed for more than two hours, while we receive only 500 pounds from 8 am to 2 pm according to the period of work, indicating the director of the factory suggested additional 260 pounds for additional hours,” Said driver Ahmed Hassan Abdel Hamid. We ask the governor of Beni Suef to intervene and return us to the local unit of the center and city of Sumsta as workers and drivers, said Jamal Abdel Rahman Mohammed, one of the hunger strikers. We cannot work extra hours because our salary is not enough” pointing out that their work in garbage causes them to diseases.
