Egypt – Hundreds of workers in Dakahlia sugar factory went on strike and stopped production lines, announcing their sit-in inside the factory, in protest against the non-inclusion of the social allowances in the basic salary, a step that was taken by Delta Sugar Factory, in addition to demanding 28 million pounds as a supplemental bonus. According to a statement, the trade union committee sent a memorandum to the companys chairman and managing director, now after conducting the General Assembly and the approval of the budget and further to our discussion with you earlier about the profits and ways to reward the employees, we demand the distribution of the supplemental bounces, and also to include the social allowances in the basic salary, like Delta Sugar Factory although they have not made the profit that our company has made”.
