Iraq – News were mixed about the disappearance of 400 Asian workers who entered Iraq during the last period, Iraqi Interior Minister confirmed that they will open an investigation into the fate of the missing workers. Police sources have speculated that militias are linked to the disappearance of Asian workers in the Shula district, north of Baghdad, the main bastion of the Hashd al-Shaabi militia. The Office of the Iraqi Interior Minister explained in statements to local media that the Office of Civil Status, Passports and Residence of the Ministry directed the investigation into the fate of 400 Asian workers working within the demolition and rehabilitation project of AL Shula hospital. The hospitals management denied the presence of any Asian workers. an official in the hospital said that the hospitals management and security heard from the media about the arrival of hundreds of Asian workers to work within the project of demolition and rehabilitation of the hospital, but none of them arrived, adding that the work there is limited to a number of Iraqi workers. He expressed his surprise at the attempt to involve the hospital in the case, indicating that no one can access the project site without passing the external information and registration, as they keep the ID of any worker for their records.
