Egypt: Workers of four sugar factories protest to demand incentives

Egypt- Workers of four sugar production and refining plants affiliated to the Sugar and Integrated Industries Company announced their strike in protest against the failure of the companys board of directors to implement the guidance of the food industry holding company on incentives and rewards. Around 50% of Kom Ombo factories in Aswan, Armant in Luxor, and equipment and refining in Hawamidia announced the strike.The Holding Company for Food Industries sent a letter to the subsidiary companies to add bonuses according to resolution 77 of 2017 for the basic wage. The sources pointed out that the company applied the increase on the basic salaries since the beginning of this month, but did not apply it on incentives, bonuses and pensions, which angered workers. The number of workers in these factories reaches 10,000 workers, more than half of them went on strike.
