Bahrain:MORE than 200 men have been left homeless by a fire at labour accommodation in Manama.

 
Bahrain – The blaze, which was reportedly sparked by a short circuit at 10pm on Friday night, gutted the ground floor of the three-storey premises which was occupied by mainly Pakistani and Bangladeshi labourers. Two of the men were injured when they jumped from a second-floor window of the building near the Interior Ministry Headquarters to escape the fire which had blocked the only entrance and exit to the building. Discharged The Pakistani men, aged in their 30s, were rushed to the Salmaniya Medical Complex and discharged after treatment. One of their colleagues described how the two jumped out of the window in panic, while the rest escaped onto the rooftop of a nearby building. “I was sleeping and I woke up after hearing screams and shouts,” Saffar Ali told the GDN. “I was shocked. I thought I was dreaming but my colleagues shook me and said, ‘Get out! There is a fire’. “I looked out of the window and all I could see was smoke. “We tried to leave the building but the entrance was engulfed in flames. “We were all terrified and thought that we were going to die. “We had only one option and that was to get to the roof.
