Bahrain: employees of a private hospital go without pay for a year

Bahrain – Workers of a private hospital demanded a solution to their problem, as they have not received salaries for  a year, pointing out that the management of the hospital used to delay the salaries, violating the labour laws. Workers confirmed that there were many complaints against this particular hospital in the Ministry of Labour and in the embassies of its employees from outside Bahrain (embassies of India, Egypt and the Philippines), as well as many cases brought before the labour courts and the civil judiciary. A number of workers stressed that the crisis of non-payment of salaries has become unresolved, expressing their disappointment of all parties that claimed to protect the employees and their rights. Workers said that the hospital is currently free of patients, and the wave of mass resignations by staff of administrative staff, nurses and doctors is ongoing due to the state of despair “many doctors and nurses and other employees have resigned, while the rest of employees are considering resignation.” It should be noted that staff who resigned filed complaints against the hospital for not receiving their entitlements.
