Jordan: Health unions protest against government performance on sector issues

Jordan –The four Health unions warned of the existence of lobbies in the government trying to Reduce Kings directives in development and manipulate the Jordanian health sector”. Health unions decided to invite their councils to a meeting to discuss the escalatory measures they intend to take to protest against the governments stance on issues related to the health sector and its employees. The trade unions (doctors, dentists, pharmacists and nurses) discussed during a joint meeting “stakeholder control and their attempt to implement their own programs in the government institutions. The four unions criticized the governments stance on the system of accreditation of health institutions and its non-compliance with the agreement reached with the Ministry of Health regarding the system which the unions are demanding to amend and abolish the mandatory laws and the threat of closure. The unions said that giving powers to a private company violate the Constitution and laws and regulations. The four unions criticized the governments control of the professions represented by health unions by granting licenses to non-members in violation of its laws.
