Jordan: Umniah company to dismiss 50 workers

Jordan – After Umniah Telecom Company decided to stop dealing with one of its agents, who had 10 shops, he decided to terminate 50 employees without warning. The dismissed employees hold Umniah Company responsible for this decision, which the company did not take into consideration. One of the employees said that he used to earn his salary along with commissions that paid a large part of his obligations. For his part, the head of the General Services Union Khalid Abu Marjoub said that the union does not hesitate to defend any labour issue, even if the workers are not affiliated with our trade union sectors. He said that the workers in these shops are affiliated with the shop workers trade union. However, we can do the necessary work towards them to resolve this situation with the company concerned.
