Kuwait – Chairman of the employees syndicate at Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC)Ammar Al-Ajmi condemned what he described as the interference of public authority and man power in the syndicate’s affairs, as they are trying to impose its control on trade unions and interfere in its affairs and target its stability. Al-Ajmi said in a press statement that the National Petroleum Union was about to file a case to the Attorney General to stop the practices of the Manpower Authority accusing it of signing an agreement between the syndicate and the National Petroleum Company without the presence of the legitimate representative of the union. He added that the syndicate had previously condemned KNPC policies of appointing expats instead of citizen at its operation department. Al-Ajmi concluded his remarks by stressing that the syndicate will continue to escalate until they be an integral party in any negotiations and until their demands are met, he also said that their “most important demand is the hiring of national labour instead of expatriate labour, which has become the largest component in the company in preparation for the privatization, which we will address by all legal means”.
