Tunisia: institutions owe social security 4000 billions

Tunisia – The General Union of Social Security in the Tunisian General Union of Labour revealed that the financial deficit of social funds is behind the deterioration of its services and that the value of debts owed by some institutions in favor of the Social Security National Fund amounted to 4000 billion, including 2000 billion that disappeared with the disappearance of those institutions that lost their existence for one reason or another. Belkacem Al-Gemini, general secretary of the General Union of Social Security, criticized the patchwork solutions announced by the government to reduce the value of the deficit, pointing out that poor management and lack of political will to promote the sector stand behind the disastrous situation of the funds, and that the measures taken by the government, such as the raising the age of  retirement and the profitability of working years and the increase in the proportion of social contributions are only a patchwork solutions will not solve the problem and will not end the crisis.
