Syria – Minister of Social Affairs and Labour Rima Qadri announced the recruitment of more than 670 migrant domestic workers during the current year, revealing that the number of violations received to the ministry reached 2300 violations, most of them related to exceeding the period specified for women workers, which is four years. She pointed out that there are about 17 licensed recruitment offices in the country, noting that the penalties were tightened in the draft law, which is currently being discussed in the Parliament. Qadri saw that the current fines are not deterrent for violators and therefore they prefer to violate rather than renew the license, which is more expensive for them. employing female workers must be controlled because it might generate human trafficking crimes, she said.
