Egypt: Ceramic workers go on strike

Egypt – Dozens of employees at the General Company for Porcelain Products, a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, organized a strike to protest the non-payment of the company’s profits. Workers threatened to continue their strike at the companys headquarters, also condemned the non-payment of cost of living allowances and the premium allowances.  The workers explained that some workers will continue to work in order to ensure the production process and do not harm public interests. The employees called on the Minister of Public Sector, Dr. Ashraf El Sharkawy, and Mr. Abdel Wahab, President of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, to intervene quickly to pay the allowances and profits.
