UAE to apply new fees on work permits

UAE- The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will apply a new system for classifying establishments into categories according to the skill level of the employees. Establishments will be exempted from paying the scheduled permit fees if the worker is a UAE national or belongs to the GCC countries. The new system will take effect on December 1. The ministry is scheduled to apply new fees on work permits that will depend on the worker’s skill level and whether he is outside or inside the UAE and on the category of the establishment in the classification system. The Ministry classifies workers into two categories, the first being a skilled worker who is employed in a job or profession which requires that he obtain a certificate higher than that of a high school diploma or equivalent, the second category includes the low-skilled worker, a worker who does not meet the conditions referred to, and is usually are among migrant workers.
