Jordan – Teachers working in the schools of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) will hold a sit-in next Tuesday, followed by a strike to protest against not fulfilling their demands. According to a statement issued by UNRWA teachers council, the teachers sit-in will take place on Tuesday, as they will not teach first class in the UNRWA schools, the first lecture in the three faculties, and then expand to include the first two classes and lectures on Wednesday the eighth of next month . The council decided to stop working for a full school day on the 22nd of next month, leading to the start of an open strike on Monday, the fourth of December. UNRWAs teachers demand a new health insurance, also demand their rights from the current company, and obligate them to cancel cases against employees in local courts for demanding their right to be treated, as they were deprived from medical forms.” They urged the administration of the Agency to abide by the decisions of the Ministry of Education regarding the 24 weekly classes for grades 1 to 10, appoint new teachers to cover the required classes and completion of the school curriculum as government teachers.
