Iraq Iraqi trade unions renewed during the conference on the future of social security, their rejection of the draft social security law approved by the Council of Ministers earlier this year because it lacks compatibility of the law and the minimum limits of social guarantees approved by the International Labour Conventions, and that the draft will reduce many of the features which are recognized by the laws in force according to the description of trade union federations. The delegate of the Iraqi Industries Federation and a number of representatives of trade unions and civil society organizations rejected the draft law for reasons related to the philosophy of this draft and the contradictions and ambiguities surrounding some of its articles, as well as the decline in social guarantees. The Iraqi Industries Federation and Unions along with civil society organizations will unite their observations on the draft law and explain the reasons for their rejection in detail and the formation of a team of those parties to continue working on this within the next two weeks.
