Egypt – The workers of TCA Sinmar, a factory owned by an Indian investor, in Port Said have announced their strike to demand the return of their four colleagues from the trade union committee after the management of the Indian factory decided to suspend them from work. The unionists have demanded the factory environmental and safety requirements following the death of a colleague due to failure to apply environmental requirements. The unionists have also demanded the factory to pay the health expenses of another colleague who was injured in the accident. The unionists who have been dismissed also called for the application of environmental law and safety standards and safety methods of operation in order to prevent harm to citizens of (potential emissions) associated with the process of manufacturing chlorine and chemicals in the factory ..
