Yesterday, workers and unionists of the Mauritanian company Sonimex for import and export held a protest in front of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry where the General Assembly of the company held their meeting to discuss the elimination decision. Actually, workers and unionistsasked to guarantee their rights and to abandon the elimination decision
Workers raised slogans condemning this decision. They considered that the situation reached by the institution is the result of accumulations of managers’ corruption, who have administered the company in the recent years, and then workers are victims of mismanagement, corruption and attempts to bankrupt the institution and a crisis cannot bear responsibility.
The union also asked for the necessity of taking workers rights into consideration,in case that the elimination decision was confirmed and that the authorities would be responsible for finding new jobs and paying their debts to banks because it is unacceptable for workers to find themselves in the street after decades of work and prosecuting the banks.
