Mauritania: An agreement with the authorities ends the protests of the workers of the national company for road maintenance ENER

Workers of the National Road Maintenance Company (ENER) have suspended their strike since Monday, after an agreement reached between labour union representatives and the Ministry of Equipment and Transport to meet their demands next week. The demands are the following: pay all the workers financial dues and to involve trade union representatives in the committee responsible for the report about the future of the enterprise along with the integration of existing workers as employees of the company in which ENER will be incorporated.

The Mauritanian government decidedearlier to eliminate the national road maintenance company ENER and merge it with the ATTM” company belonging to Essnin company.This decision took place following a report issued by the Minister of Economy and Finance to the government, describing the financial situation of the company as very disturbing and have been continuing to deteriorate since the end of 2014, without providing any justification or reasons for this deterioration.
