Morocco: Total paralysis of kingdom airports and air navigation technicians adhere to their demands

The Moroccan Airports Authority used the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces technicians to ensure air navigation and its normal functioning following a strike by air traffic safety technicians, which began on Thursday and lasts for a week.

The strike resulted from the call of the national bureau of air traffic safety technicians under the Moroccan Workers Union (UMT)   . Thus, the kingdoms airports were totally and completely interrupted by a march to the Royal Palace in “Rabat “with the insurance of the safety of air navigation during royal travels and evacuation situations for health and emergency reasons.

The traffic safety technicians’ trade union decided to organize car rallies, yesterday, from the national centre of air traffic safety to the Royal Palace in “Rabat”, with the participation of all the technical frameworks for the safety of air navigation from all airports. They aim to establish a correspondence signed by them to report their grievances and displeasure from ignoring the offices management of high royal instructions.

Air traffic safety technicians blamed the Director General of the Moroccan Airports Authority for being the only responsible of the negative and serious repercussions of the absence of any guarantee for the safety of air navigation, in front of the higher authorities and guardianship authorities. Moreover, they confirmed in their strike that the reason for this escalation is the director’s arbitrary decision to transfer the public registrar of the union and the representative of frameworks without explanation. This is a clear violation of the labour law, especially article 457, which strikes the trade union rights in the institution.
