In its latest report on salaries, “Towers Wattson” said that Bahrain has the lowest salary rate to reach 4.6%. Knowing that the minimum wage is about JD 300, however, many institutions in the private sector do not comply with it. A large number of employees and workers receive salaries of up to 200 dinars.
Experts stress that there is no minimum wage law in Bahrain because the market is free and depends on the economy which depends on supply and demand, buying and selling and on the social situation and not the economic one. In fact, it is formulated in order to protect the poor and those with low income and the less privileged category such as disabled people. This social problem should be settled to protect these groups through the support of relevant bodies and institutions, whether governmental or civil, because the minimum will hamper the growth process.
