The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions condemned the dismissal of workers in the banking and construction sectors due to the increase in the number of unemployed people, in light of the growing economic crisis due to the lifting of subsidies and the introduction of selective taxation and value added tax.
This measure came as a result ofthe sudden rise in gasoline prices yesterday by 25%, which was a severe blow to low- and middle-income groups, considering these measures as an increase of the economic burden on the working class.
At the same time, the General Federation of Trade Unions of Bahrain expressed surprise at the cessation of social dialogue between the parties of production and the evasion of workers rights and gains.
