Fighting erupted between security forces in Rabat and dozens of African migrants near the “Gammera” station after that hundreds of Africans had been camping in the”Gammera” forest for months.
In the midst of these confrontations, the representatives of African migrants are negotiating with the concerned authorities in Rabat to grant them humanitarian places that guarantee the dignity of the migrants in Fez, Rabat and Casablanca. In addition,to coordinate with them to count the Africans living in the “Gammera” forest and to seek solutions with the governor on the basis of sheltering African migrants in one of the centres areas of Rabat, especially with the cold wave.
Recently, clashes erupted in the city of Casablanca between migrants from sub-Saharan Africa and young Moroccans, who brought back the issue of racism towards African migrants, raising again the problem of their integration into Moroccan society. In this respect, the government affirms that Morocco does not reject any foreign residents, hoping that this will not be repeated again and that they will address the reasons that led to this tension.
