Moroccan health unions and a number of associations have held protests since last Wednesday in several cities, asking for the acquittal of “Mariam Bakkar”, a nurse, who is sentenced to three months of imprisonment prison and a fine. They consider this ruling as unjust and unfair, accusing the Ministry of Health responsible for protecting the public facilities and professionals of the sector, as well as,supporting workers, who are victims of prosecution.
The court had ordered the acquittal of the nurse in 2012, regarding the suicide of one of the patients in the mental health hospital of Rashidiya before that an appeal is sentenced against her to imprisonment.
The protests included the cities of “Tetouan”,”Al Madheek”, “Al Hoceima”, “Asafi”, “Rashidiy”a and “InezganeAit Mellou”l.
