Hundreds of workers of the Egyptian National Cement Company, who are about 2,400 workers, started an open-ended strike inside the companys headquarters on Sunday, in Helwan, South of the capital, to ask for the restart of the companys production lines, which were completely stopped in December.
The protestors stressed that there is a plan to sell the company to a foreign investor, who started by appointing a new board chairman, whose first decisions was to sell the stock of “Clinker “ to NLS company, it is the substance from which the cement production, after it is being grinded in the mills of the company !!
It is noteworthy that the holding company for chemical industries decided in the General Assembly of the National Company, last November to stop lines 3 and 4 from work, which account for 80% of the companys productivity, claiming that the company suffered losses due to the consumption of natural gas as fuel to run the furnaces.
