The Egyptian foundation for the advancement of children’s status revealed that 3630 children were exposed to violations on their legitimate rights of living, co-existence and security through murder, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, school violence, neglect and other violations through 1909 cases which were circulated in the media through government and non-governmental newspapers. The percentage of females among those violations is 31% while the percentage of males is 40% and 29% are children whose type is not mentioned.
In its report, the foundation reported that the total number of cases of children in 2017 is 1984 cases in different incidents varied between the injury through poisoning, fire, electric shock, family violence, school violence and neglect, whether in school or medical and other.The highestincidence of children was with poisoning as it accounted for 1008 of the total injuries,i.e. 50.8% of the total number of cases.
It added that the most groups, who were exposed to violations through the research are the age group between 11 and 15 years and the violations that have been exposed to this category between abduction and sexual exploitation, violence, neglect, injury shots, poisoning, injury in accidents and killings in various incidents.
The report also called for the cessation of mass arrests of children in the street and the need to deal with them as victims of economic, social and cultural policies and to face the political exploitation of children by all parties, as well as, the tightening of sanctions on those who exploit them with the necessity of abiding by the provisions of the Egyptian Child Act and its activation.
