Tunisia: The Launching of the study of the corral workers’ files recruited after the revolution

A meeting of the tripartite committee was held between the Tunisian General Labour Union(UGTT) and the government to discuss the various possibilities for settling the status of corral workers after 2011. During the meeting, the representatives of the two sides discussed the profiles of some of them, their geographic and sectoral distribution, their ministries, their competencies, their age and educational level as a first stage. This discussion preceded the discussion of the settlement of their status as the end of the process has to be before March 31st.

The most important data revealed by the government representatives within the tripartite committee is the practice of thousands of the registered as corral workers after 2011 of other activities after they proved their involvement in one of the social funds and enjoy social coverage. Their distribution includes breaches such as the presence of dozens registered as guards at one or more public schools and more than one hundred workers in one public hospital.

It is noteworthy that the number of registered corral workers of after 2011 , who receive wages are about 84 thousand workers distributed as follows: 53 thousand and 179 workers as workers of regional corrals belonging to  the Ministry of Development and Investment and International Cooperation and about 30 thousand workers in agricultural corrals.
