Saudi Arabia: Asian workers protest over their delayed salaries and authorities stop them for investigation

A number of Asian workers protested against the delay of their wages in “North Obhor” in Jeddah, and were accused of assaulting their company officials by throwing stones at them.
The security authorities imposed a security cordon on the site of the protest before the workers were detained and opened an investigation with them to identify what security considered as the the instigators to cause chaos and encroachment on public and private property.
During the investigation, the workers accused the companys officials, of Arab nationalities, of delaying their financial dues and failing to meet their multiple pledges during the past period.
On the other hand, the subsidiary of the Ministry of Labour in the region summoned the human resources officer and the director of the company to investigate them with the Wage Protection Committee. The results of the investigation will be announced later. If the workers demands are proven, the company will be subject to fines and suspension of other services and procedures.
