“Qatarileaks” website revealed that five migrant workers from Nepal to Qatar have been stuck for more than a month and a half in Doha without work or salaries, contrary to what it is stated in their employment contracts, which were signed by a Qatari recruitment company called Progressive to Bring Manpower”, afterreceiving 75,000 rupees ($ 720).
The workers asked the companys management to send them back to their country, but the company forced them to stay and wait until they get ajob. Moreover, the company deducted a sum of their wages in case they were employed as food and housing costs, but the workers remained without work and money.
On the other hand, the Nepali authorities criticized the decision to raise the minimum wage for migrant workers few weeks ago, issued by Qatar last year. They said that it is squandering the rights of Nepalese workers and is contrary to the Nepaleselaws, as well as, it overloads workers with more financial burdens.
