Aswan Quarry workers embark on a work-stoppage

EGYPT – Workers at Aswan Quarry have embarked on a work-stoppage in protest against supplying 25 percent of total production every three months to government.
Protesters in quarry that employs 500 workers said this procedure exceeds their capabilities.

AssayyedYounes, the workers’ spokesperson said the decision was issued in December last year and implemented in April 28 after increasing license fees, he explained that cost for implementing the decision is too high as they have to pay for the license fees, and equipment they use, while profits they gain is hardly cover this cost.
